Accessing Course Materials

The guide below explains how to create an Ares account, search and add courses, view course materials, and more.

physical access to

Hard Copy Books and Textbooks

Print books on Course Reserves are available behind the Circulation Desk.
Please have your course number and instructor’s name available for the circulation staff to locate the materials. The list of items on reserve by your instructor can be found in the Ares Course Reserves system. You can access these items by signing in with your UF username and password at https://ares.uflib.ufl.edu/. You can also search our library catalog to see if books needed for your course are available in our collections.

Note: If you encounter errors when using Chrome or Safari while accessing course reserves within Canvas, please use Mozilla Firefox. Please contact us if you need any assistance. 352-273-2520 or eres@uflib.ufl.edu.

online access to

Electronic Reserves

Some Course Reserves materials are available through Electronic Reserves. These include links to several types of resources: ebooks, open access resources, articles in UF library databases, or sections of books. Ebooks and database articles can be accessed through the UF library catalog when connected to the UF Virtual Private Network (VPN). Other electronic resources required by your instructor can also be found under Ares Course Reserves in the Canvas dashboard. If your instructor does not use Canvas, create an Ares account and access reserve material directly. For more information on Ares and your Canvas account, please see the Student Guide to Ares for accessing Course Reserve materials.

We recommend using Chrome or Firefox with the Ares Course Reserves system.
