Emeritus, Retired faculty, and Oak Hammock Residents

What are my library privileges?

Retired/Emeritus Faculty and Oak Hammock Residents receive access to the following privileges:

  • Loan of up to 350 items for a period of 6 months ( with due dates landing on either April 1st or October 1st)
    • 1 month before the due date, faculty receive a courtesy reminder email listing all items on their library account. Faculty may then use the online renewal service by clicking My Account on the Library Catalog, or contact a Smathers Library Circulation desk for assistance.
  • Interlibrary Loan/ UBorrow services.
  • Remote access to electronic databases.
  • Assigning a proxy borrower to borrow materials on your behalf.

Proxy Borrower Program

Faculty may apply at any circulation desk for a Proxy Borrower card by filling out the online form, which allows registered research assistants to borrow books for the faculty member. These privileges must be renewed each semester.

How to get privileges:

Renewing Library Privileges

  • Present the current identification card to the Library West Circulation Desk and complete a new application form.
  • There must be no outstanding financial obligations or evidence of borrowing abuse.
  • If the supervisor is unable to verify the applicant’s current status and process the request on demand, allow three business days for renewal.
